When we first moved into our house we had a lot of cosmetic renovating to do. I found myself up a stepladder daily, at seven months pregnant, stripping wallpaper and then painting every room in the house (evidence of this can be found on my Instagram feed)! It did wonders for my nesting instinct… But then I became a little too pregnant to do anything other than eat cake, so everything has been on pause ever since.
Indy’s Nursery is currently our dumping ground for boxes as he’ll be in with us for another few months, but now my head is starting to return to the land of the living (well, just about) I’ve been getting very excited about finally making his room perfect!
The theme I’ve opted for is a mismatch of three other themes I liked. I’m quite indecisive when it comes to designing a space and choosing a theme, so decided to mush them all together to create: “Robots, dinosaurs, and bears, oh my!” A little nod to one of my favourite musicals too!
You can imagine how well the AMAZING Robot Story Cotbed from Cosatto fits in with this theme! We’ll be reviewing the cotbed fully soon, but I wanted to share my first thoughts with you.
We had a small wait for Busby’s bed after we moved in, so my Father-in-law (FiL) built the cotbed for us so she’d have somewhere to sleep. He’s a handy chap to have around!
From an ease and organisational point of view, my FiL was very impressed with the packaging; everything was laid out beautifully – no rooting about in small bags looking for each part and screw – everything had its place and was clearly labelled.
He was also impressed with the design and instructions; it was very easy to put together, although he did have to reopen a couple of holes that had been filled with paint. He thought that some parts had obviously had the holes drilled pre-paint, but he managed to sort it quickly. This would have been tricky if we didn’t own a drill! Nevertheless, he had the bed built within two hours.
We’ve all been very impressed with the quality of the cotbed; it really is a beautiful piece of furniture from the high shine finish, to the added features such as a teething guard on the cot sides, to stop little teeth gnawing off the paint. Everything has been well thought-out and executed.
The cot is a gorgeous bright shade of yellow, with robot decals on each end. It fits in Indy’s room perfectly, and I can’t wait to find some awesome bedding to compliment it.
This post is only our first thoughts because the cotbed has only been built as a bed (with high sides) thus far so Busby could snooze in it until her room was ready. I’ll be writing a full review in the coming weeks, once the boxes have cleared and we’ve built it fully. I’m most excited about giving the changing station a whirl – it looks so convenient!!
The beauty of the Story Cotbed is that it grows with your child; it’s two beds in one! The cotbed comes with two different headboard sizes, so once your Little Person has finished with the cot, it can be converted into a Toddler bed. (And then a sofa apparently!) The bed height can be adjusted too so you can continue to lower the mattress for when your Little Person starts to pull themselves up, climb and walk… Ah escaping children!
Busby absolutely adored the cotbed; she put on a robot voice every time she got in. More importantly, she loved snoozing in the bed, and slept like a dream! We were sent a Cosatto Springi mattress with the cot too, which is so comfortable and very supportive. The mattress costs £85 (RRP), which is very reasonable for such a good quality mattress!
It’s also great for conducting music lessons on!
